Charlie Spiegel’s Bay Area practice includes divorce and custody mediation, pre and post marital planning and agreements, adoption, surrogacy and real estate matters. Charlie served as Co-Chair of the National Board of Lambda Legal, and was a founding Executive Director of Our Family Coalition, the bay area’s LGBT family organization. Charlie writes and lectures extensively on the topics of separating with respect and intentionality for both heterosexual and LGBT couples alike. Charlie co-wrote the Collaborative Practice Divorce Options program materials.  Charlie has also served on boards of  opens in a new windowwww.kidsturn.org, Collaborative Practice California and Collaborative Practice-SF. He received a Fammy award from San Francisco’s Jewish Family & Children’s Services in 2009 and in 2017 an Our Family award for his advocacy for families.    His 20 years of practice in varied areas of real estate law in the Bay Area is helpful to separating couples and those facing appreciated or ‘underwater’ home loans or foreclosure. He has lived in the Bay Area since soon after graduating New York University School of Law with honors in 1987 and raised his daughter through his own divorce .  In addition to his offices in SF in Noe Valley and on BART above the Powell St. station, Charlie sees clients weekly in Montclair and Orinda (First Republic Bank offices).
